Phase One

Improvement

  • Add two quests: car quest and house quest. Take the car quest as an example,
    • When a player needs to buy a car, a video will be shown to the player first. The video will tell the player what need to consider when buying the car (monthly payment, what the interest rate means, how it is affected by the term of the loan, are there any early payment penalties or fees associated with the financing, etc.)
    • After showing the video, the player will be given three financing choices for buying the car. Different choices mean that the player have to pay different total account of money, thus may lead to different fail rate for the players later.
    • The car quest can help the player make the choices better. The player can choose to do the quest first or directly make the choice.
    • The player will get the car quest from a Non-Player Character (NPC) in the credit union. The quest directs the player to access the website including texts and videos on how to finance a car (the website will hosted by us, so that we have full control on the contents). Three or four multiple-choice questions will be given to the players based on the website contents, the players can get different bonus (e.g. discount on the car loan plan) based on the number of questions they answer correctly.
  • Support two multiplayer features: one player can buy the car or the house from other players. The players can negociate on the prices.

    • solution: video screen at different parcels, and also play different videos in the HUD depending on the player's location
  • create signs to make obvious how to buy car, etc. (Mithun)
  • teleport to cars, houses, etc. (Mithun)---add one more location to the teleporter,i.e. the location to start the game

  • Make the house selling more realistically by make one of the house as the realtor's office, moving the video kiosk there, changing color and texture of houses to make them different, putting furniture to the houses (Finished by Mithun, and Andy will polish it by August 21st)

  • Build a school in the island, and creating a related video

Prioritized

  • Support "go bankrupt" feature in the game, i.e. the player will be stopped playing the game if his financial situation is very bad up to a certain point.
  • have different mini-games within the game, each focusing on a special area (i.e., credit card debt, large mortgage and no cash flow, etc)
  • Create 'fun' for kids, i.e. race track, jet ski area, shopping, custom house, etc.
  • Add interactive computer and house info board in the realtor's office
