The GameGen Project

The purpose of the GameGen Project is to create a game given only the aspects the game is intended to exhibit. Right now it just makes 2d platformer games. Following is a list of the aspect categories and aspects which are implemented so far:

  • Game Heirarchy
    • World map with entrances to levels
    • Linear set of levels
  • Character/Enemy Abilities
    • Movement
    • Jumping
    • Shooting
    • Pogo Stick
    • Lay Mine
  • Character Aspects
    • Ability to level up
  • Game Over Methods
    • Running out of lives
  • Level Completion Method
    • Find an exit
    • Collect a certain number of items, then go to exit
  • Enemy Behaviors
    • Jump randomly
    • Wander back and forth, occasionally using an attack ability
  • Other Game Directives
    • Collect points to try to get a high score
  • Level Design Styles
    • Flatland
    • Cave/Maze
