Your job is to correctly identify as many mineral samples as you can, out of the 18 presented before you. You have several tests you can preform to attempt to narrow down the possibilities of what minerals it could be.

Lesson Plan

This module is intended to serve as a replacement for a physical geology lab for those without the resources to preform one. It can however still be done in conjunction with the physical geology lab. It should be able to be treated the exact same as your physical geology lab if it is chosen to be used as a substitute.

How to play

When the game launches, you will be presented with a screen asking you for your name. Enter your name in the displayed box. Press "Submit" to continue. You will be presented with a short introductory screen that will tell you the basics of how to play. Once you have read this information, click "Next" to enter the game proper.

Right-click on a mineral to select it. The camera will focus on the selected mineral and that mineral will be raised off of the ground. To perform a test, left-click and drag a tool from the left side of your screen over top of the selected mineral. Release the left mouse button to perform the test. New information will be displayed in the notebook in the top right corner.

When you think you know what the selected mineral is, press the "Verify" button in the notebook. For help identifying minerals, you may refer to the "Reference Guide" on the right of the screen. At any time you may right click on a different mineral to select it for testing.

Controls

Click the help button in game to get a reminder of how the controls work.

After using the module

If you have the resources, you can see if the students skills transition over to a real physical geology lab.

After your students complete the lab, you may check out the high scores at the Scores Database.
