Teaching and Learning in the Second Life Virtual Environment
Event Date: Fiday, May 9th, 2008
Event Time: 8:15 - 9:15 am SL (11:15-12:15 ET)
Event Description: Teaching and learning in Second Life can be exciting and effective. The key is to develop learning aids that are based on the subject contents and seamlessly integrate the learning aids into a curriculum. With the support from the National Science Foundation, researchers from the VITAL Lab at Ohio University (http://vital.cs.ohiou.edu) have developed learning aids for middle school science classes. These learning aids were aligned with Academic Content Standards for Science in the State of Ohio. Initial results showed that they were effective in improving student learning.
